Applications / Gas Dehydration (TEG)

Optimise Your Gas Dehydration Unit with Inline TEG Water Monitoring

Monitor lean and rich glycol streams continuously to maximise reboiler efficiency and ensure gas meets water dew point specifications.

The Challenge

Natural gas must meet strict water dew point specifications before entering the pipeline network. Triethylene glycol (TEG) dehydration is the most common method — but operating the glycol system efficiently requires knowing the water content of both lean and rich glycol streams in real time.

Over-Stripping Waste

Running the reboiler hotter than necessary wastes energy and accelerates TEG degradation. Without inline monitoring, operators rely on conservative setpoints.

Under-Stripping Risk

If lean glycol water content is too high, the gas will not meet dew point spec — risking hydrate formation, pipeline corrosion, and contract penalties.

Slow Lab Sampling

Laboratory Karl Fischer analysis of glycol samples takes hours. Upsets and contaminant ingress events are missed between sample intervals.

Lean Glycol Quality

The water content of regenerated lean glycol directly determines gas export quality. Continuous monitoring enables closed-loop reboiler control.

How Zelentech Solves It

The ZT-100TEG Water in TEG Monitor is purpose-built for glycol dehydration systems. Calibrated for the dielectric properties of triethylene glycol, it provides accurate water content measurement in both lean and rich glycol streams with a 1-second response time.

Install on the lean glycol line leaving the reboiler to verify regeneration quality, and on the rich glycol line from the contactor to monitor absorption performance. Real-time data enables operators to optimise reboiler temperature, detect contaminant ingress, and ensure the glycol is regenerated to specification before recirculation.

ATEX and IECEx certification allows installation in hazardous areas around the glycol regeneration package. Standard 4–20mA and HART outputs integrate with existing DCS for closed-loop reboiler control.

TEG-Calibrated

Factory calibrated for triethylene glycol dielectric properties — not a generic oil monitor with approximate settings.

Lean & Rich Variants

Separate configurations optimised for the different water content ranges of lean and rich glycol streams.

Reboiler Optimisation

Real-time lean glycol water content enables closed-loop reboiler control, reducing energy consumption and TEG degradation.
